FIELD TRIP TO THE MISSOURI STATE PENITENTIARY
IN JEFFERSON CITY
(FOLLOWING THE FHE HOMESCHOOL RALLY AT THE CAPITOL BUILDING)

If you are coming to the FHE Homeschool Day on March 5th (or just want to drive to Jefferson City), Maggie Moll is putting together a field trip to the Missouri State Penitentiary.

Still owned by State of Missouri, The Missouri State Penitentiary (MSP)  opened in 1836 along the banks of the Missouri River in Jefferson City,  Missouri, the state capital. The prison housed inmates for 168 years and  was the oldest continually operating prison west of the Mississippi  until it was decommissioned in 2004. It was once called “The bloodiest 47 acres in America.”

All attendees must be 5 years or older and sign a waiver. They are very firm about the minimum age. The tour in general is geared towards the 6 to 10-year-old crowd. We have to have at least 25 people for the field trip to go ahead as planned. Cost is $5/person.

HOW TO REGISTER:  This is not set up on the SHARE website.  If you want to go on this tour, please contact Maggie Moll at 314-954-8808 or [email protected].  She is handling this on her own.

Thanks,  Maggie, for doing this--it should prove to be a very interesting and educational field trip!
